The New Year is here. Ready to enjoy a healthier new year? If you're like many people, one of your resolutions this year is to improve your health and fitness.
However, if you really want a stronger, leaner, healthier body, you're going to need to make your goals more specific. Here are some small, easy changes you can make for better health and fitness in 2017.
Make "gym time" a part of your regular schedule
Once you've found a Club you love, it's time to change the way you approach going to the gym. Instead of treating it like a leisure activity, make it an obligation you put on your calendar. Block off time, just as you would for a work meeting or interview. If someone asks if you can do something during your gym time, your answer for a healthier new year is, "No. I'm sorry, but I have another obligation." By making workouts a priority, you're making yourself a priority -- and you certainly deserve to be a priority in your own life!
Try something new once a week
Pick a day of the week, and dedicate yourself to trying something new, whether it's an entirely new workout routine or just a new way of doing squats, on that day. This will keep your workouts interesting, and you might even discover a whole new fitness regimen that you love.
Keep sliced veggies on hand for snacking
Fitness is part exercise and part diet. If you want to lose weight or stay lean, you'll need to avoid reaching for sugary, fatty snacks. An easy way to stop yourself from indulging is to stop keeping these snacks in the house (and in the office). Instead, buy a bunch of sliced veggies, like carrots, celery, and peppers, each week. Keep them in the front of the fridge in pre-portioned baggies so you can reach for them whenever you feel like munching.
Switch to water
Are you still drinking sugary sodas and sweetened teas? Resolve to cut these out of your diet this year. Instead, make it your goal to only drink water during the day. Let yourself have one serving of tea, wine, or juice with your dinner only. You'll be consuming fewer calories, which should lead to a slow and steady weight loss throughout the year.
Walk more often
